Childminder based in Central Reading - Mrs Khan - River Sea Childcare

Hello! My name is Mrs Khan and I'm an Ofsted registered childminder based in Reading. I work with an assistant and provide a loving home from home environment. I live in a lovely large 3 bedroom home with my husband and our 2 sons and I am located just 3-4 minutes drive from Royal Berkshire Hospital & Reading University and I am just under 10 minutes away from Reading Station & Green Park.

I have adapted my home specifically in order to provide a fantastic space for all children in my care. I have a large playroom where children have access to a wide variety of toys and activities. The playroom leads directly out onto our garden which has a playhouse, sandpit, mud kitchen, small world construction play zone, water play area, ride ons, wooden play centre and slides. I have created a fruit and veg patch which helps older children to understand how their food grows and gives the younger children a chance to plant up their own fruit and veg plus have a little bit more time to engage in messy play whilst understanding where their food comes from. The remainder of the garden is a large turf lawn which has a sensory border curated by a local speech and language therapist.

Back inside, my kitchen is where we cook/bake and do lots of messy arts and crafts. I make most of our snacks and meals in the kitchen and am able to accommodate a wide variety of dietary needs, I will always use Organic and Fairtrade produce where possible. All meat, when used in my setting, is Halal and free range where possible.

If a child needs a bit of quiet time or needs to go down for a nap I have dedicated a downstairs quiet room set aside for children which is always available. The quiet room is furnished with sleeping mats and travel cots and is in use as and when needed. I have a downstairs washroom which is used by the children, the toilet has an adapted seat for little ones who are toilet training.

I am a Forest Childcare provider so will ensure that unless the weather is not permitting we will always spend time outdoors every day, fresh air and space is essential to the wellbeing of all children regardless of age. During half term and holiday breaks throughout the year, we visit zoos, farms and much more.

This setting has signed up to offer Tax Free Childcare.
