British Red Cross - Care and Support in the Home

The service can help prevent unnecessary hospital admissions or readmissions by providing extra support in the home.  The service is available for up to 4 weeks to patients aged over 65, living in the Reading area, being discharged from the Royal Berkshire Hospital.   We can smooth the process of settling back into a normal routine & enable people to regain their confidence and independence.

Our friendly staff and volunteers can help with a wide range variety of tasks.   For example, provide companionship and help out with every day tasks such as shopping, or collect prescriptions and signpost or give information on other services.

All volunteers take part in a comprehensive training programme and have undergone DBS security checks.

Volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. Enables vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. When the crisis is over, we help people recover and move on with their lives.
