Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

Description

I am an ofsted registered childminder with over 17 years experience. My last ofsted inspection was in 2019 and was rated good. Children in my care are always valued as individuals,  and i have a child led approach to planning, making sure activities and experiences are suitable to each child's individual needs, development and interests.

Updated - May 2023

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

I am constantly observing the children in my care. I talk with parents regularly about any concerns they or I may have to identify any issues that may need intervention.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I will keep parents/families informed, and consult with them, to make decisions about the best possible approach to support their child's development/educational needs. I will work with, and take advice from any necessary professionals to support an IEP of a child.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

As previously noted, my planning is based on the individual needs of the child, setting obtainable next steps through observations of current curriculum engagement, the child's development and individual interests.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

All activities are based on the individual child's needs and adapted according to their developmental progress. I work with parents, families and other professionals to best support the child's needs.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I am prepared to attend training courses and to work closely with other professionals to best support any child's needs.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I observe and assess the child using the early years outcomes and record this in the child's learning journal. This, along with the daily diary are shared with parents.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

Risk assessments are carried out for all activities/outings ensuring safety and inclusion for all children.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

I have wheel chair access and downstairs washing and toilet facilities.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Communication between myself and the new setting is important. I am happy, where possible to visit the new setting with your child and share relevant information.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

As previously noted there is a constant line of communication open between myself and the child's parents and I encourage sharing of any information around the child's development and progress.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

 E-mail - jenlittlewood71@gmail.com.

mobile - 07941 691605

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I complete a daily diary for the early years children in my care which gives both I and parents the opportunity to communicate with each other. I encourage parents to share any concerns with me. I have a formal complaints policy.
