The Compassionate Friends
‘Every parent’s worst nightmare is to lose a child’. This phrase may be a cliché but each year, for thousands of parents, the nightmare becomes a reality. The Compassionate Friends is an organisation of bereaved parents offering support, understanding and friendship to others after the loss of a child, of any age, from any cause. We offer a National Telephone Helpline, staffed by bereaved parents, and available for support and information 365 days a year, as well as a website and moderated online forum, local support contacts and groups, weekend gatherings and retreats, information leaflets, bereavement support publications and a postal library. Some specialist sibling support is also available. Local support group in west Reading see website for contact details.
