Camp Mohawk is a multi-functional day centre for children with special needs, set in 5 acres of beautiful countryside, just outside Wargrave, Berkshire. Throughout the year the centre provides a range of activities, facilities and natural space to encourage children with a variety of special needs to play, socialise and learn in a secure and caring environment.

Our vision is for children and young people with special needs arising from physical or developmental disability to receive the support necessary to realise their full potential as valued individuals, with their disability being openly understood, accepted and provided for without prejudice or judgement.

Camp Mohawk provides a 'safe haven' with both indoor and outdoor facilities where children and young people with special needs and their families can come to relax, play, develop social skills and build their self-confidence in a positive and uplifting environment that accepts and welcomes them all.

We provide the children and young people with stimulating workshops, sensory and social activities that are led by experienced enthusiastic staff and carefully designed to address the common developmental requirements of children with special needs.

We also provide their families with some short term respite, a support network and friendly advice. Both our centre and approach works sympathetically with the challenging behaviour that often accompanies disability in young people. We provide this support for families in all school holidays except Christmas, plus some evenings and weekends, and also liaise locally with special needs schools and support groups.

Families need to register to use our services. Facilities include soft play and sensory rooms, various activity rooms, full disabled bathroom facilities including mobile hoist, outdoor adventure play, swings, sensory garden, imaginative play spaces, picnic areas, and an outdoor, heated pool (open May to September).

Camp Mohawk is open to families, groups and schools throughout the year. Please make contact before planning a visit.

    Short Breaks

Camp Mohawk's Short Breaks programme is specifically for children and young people, aged 8 to 25, with a diagnosis of High Functioning Autism / Asperger's Syndrome. This programme provides activities through after school clubs and also during school holidays. A needs assessment will be carried out by Camp Mohawk staff to ensure the programme is suitable for a child or young person. Referral can be made directly by families, or via other professional services. For more information regarding Short Breaks, please contact Donna Levy  donna.levy@campmohawk.org.uk for details and please see the specific directory listings for Kestrels Youth Group, Kites Youth Group and Hawks Youth Group.

Me2 is our core service of matching children with volunteers at mainstream activity clubs. Once parents have an activity planned they can register with us by completing the form on our website https://me2club.org.uk/family-advice-and-support/. By planned this means that they have identified what activity they want to do and have been in touch with the provider to enquire about availability. We have some information about activities in the local area on our website https://me2club.org.uk/local-activity-clubs/

We accept referrals from professionals, or families can self-refer using the registration form on our website https://me2club.org.uk/about-us/ once they have a place at an activity or are on a waiting list for an activity.

We ask that professionals wait to complete the form until the family has chosen their activity and that they include their details in the details of child’s additional needs section of the form so we can contact them if we need to and so that we know who the referral has come from.

Me2 Club support young people aged 5-19 with additional needs and disabilities to take part in mainstream after school activities. They do this by recruiting and training volunteers to ‘buddy’ with young people at the activities so they can join in and have fun. For full details visit: https://me2club.org.uk/about-us/

Me2 Club is for children/young people who live in Reading & Wokingham

Me2 Club is an inclusion charity for children and young people with additional needs and disabilities.  Our purpose is to tackle the social isolation and loneliness experienced by children who are not able to access mainstream leisure activities. We are unique as we do not require a formal diagnosis to offer support.

With our help children can access a wide range of activities including sports clubs, uniformed groups and drama classes, giving them a chance to build independence and vital life and social skills.

Me2 Club also runs an Inclusion Training Project for activity leaders, which aims to increase the inclusion of young people with additional needs into mainstream leisure activities.
