30 hour free childcare entitlement: delivery model

The government has committed to doubling the amount of free childcare from 15 to 30 hours a week for working parents of three and four year olds from September 2017.

The government launched a consultation on 3rd April 2016 which closed on 6th June 2016. The consultation asked respondents for views on:

• increasing flexibility of the free entitlement to better meet the needs of working parents

• improving access to the free entitlement for disabled children and those with additional needs

• making the local delivery model more efficient, and

• improving parents’ access to information about childcare. This document summarises the responses to the consultation and outlines the government response to the issues raised.
