Film screening: Resilience; the Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope - Thursday 4 October 2018

We are pleased to invite you to the screening of the film ‘Resilience; the Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope’ which will be shown in the Council Chamber at Reading Borough Council (Bridge Street, RG1 2LU), on Thursday 4th October from 2:30 pm -5:00 pm.

The film is 70 minutes long and following the screening there will be opportunity to discuss the poosibility of setting up Trauma Informed Communities in Reading.

Below is a link to a preview of the film and how a trauma informed community changed the town of Walla, Walla, USA.

Trauma Informed Communities involve the whole community becoming aware of the effects of adverse childhood events (ACEs) on children and then working towards identifying them early in order to prevent long term harm.

There is increasing evidence that awareness can also lead to changed behaviours and healing of the damage caused, and that awareness of vulnerability can prevent them from being passed to the next generation.
