Carers Week 2019 - 10th to 16th June 2019

People in Reading can access advice, support and information at a series of events taking place across Reading to celebrate National Carers Week (10 - 16 June).

Three events for people who provide unpaid care for a friend, relative or neighbour, will take place on

Monday 10th June 2019 (9:30 am - 3:00 pm) at New Directions, 330 Northumberland Avenue, Reading RG2 8DH. The event will feature presentations on Power of Attorney, Mental Health and End of life care, with one-to-one confidential sessions.  Please call the Carers Hub to book your place.

Monday 10th June 2019 (7 pm - 8:30 pm) at Reading Mencap, 21 Alexandra Road, Reading RG1 5PE.  A talk by Rowberry Morris Solicitors for parents or carers of a child or adult with a learning disability.  The topic is: Planning Ahead.  Free entrance.  Parking available.  To book a place, please call 0118 966 2518 or email: office@readingmencap.org.ukClick here to download/share a copy of the flyer.

Wednesday 12th June (11:00 am - 2:00 pm) at Broad Street Mall.  A market place place event featuring local voluntary sector organisations supporting unpaid carers.

Friday 14th June (10:00 am - 3:00 pm) at Whitley Wood Community Centre, Swallowfield Drive, Reading RG2 8UH). Pampering sessions. Health MOTs. Please call the Carers Hub to book your place.

The Carers Week events are organised by several organisations working in partnership, including Reading and West Berkshire Carers Hub, Reading Council, local voluntary care sector providers, local NHS partners, carers and charities.

In Reading, it is estimated over 12,000 people provide unpaid care for someone who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without their support.

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges that carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
