
Team members visit settings annually to ensure they meet the welfare requirements of the EYFS which include developing the Universal Provision set out in the Graduated Approach, and ensuring that settings are meeting the legal requirements of the SEND Code of Practice.
Early Years Team members are available for advice and can signpost settings to specific support. The team includes an Early Years Advisory Teacher for SEND, and two Early Years SEND Support Advisors that settings can refer to for further advice and guidance. – Early Years Advisory Service for Special Educational Needs
The Early Years team facilitate training around SEND. Recent courses have been:

- Signing in the Early Years
- Speech and Language Delays
- Sensory Processing Delays
- Introduction to SEND in Early Years
- Behaviour and SEN
- The Role of the SENCO in Early Years
- Termly SENCO Networks
The Early Years Team also work in partnership with the SEND Strategy board which includes working with Children’s Centres, Portage, Family Information Service, Nursery School Headteachers, Specialist & Mainstream Early Years Settings and Schools to support the strategic pathway for children in Early Year with SEND and Early Intervention.
The Early Years SEND Team also support settings in making an application to the Inclusion Funding Panel for children who require additional support within the Early years Setting. Link to the Early Years Inclusion Funding Page
