West Berkshire Therapy Centre

West Berkshire Therapy Centre has no waiting list and is a unique facility in Thatcham, providing power-assisted exercise for adults experiencing restricted mobility.

The service is there to help anyone who cannot exercise safely in a conventional exercise setting. It doesn't matter what condition you have; what matters is that exercise can help you both physically and socially.

Our physiotherapist will assess you and give you your own exercise prescription. Our covid procedures are designed to keep you safe. A selection of sixteen items of equipment provide gentle repetitive movements that help stiff and reluctant muscles to keep moving, helping mobility, pain relief and independence.

Those using the equipment can add their own energy, in line with how much or little they may have! Many clients have used the service to help them keep able to climb their stairs at home, so they can continue to use their bathrooms and bedrooms. Others report things such as being able to go shopping again or take their dog for a walk again; much better than leaving such tasks to family and friends.

The atmosphere at the Centre is very sociable and in addition to the physical improvements reported by those using the service, most people report a much improved social outlook and involvement.
