Employment, Training and Education can be accessed by anyone living or working in Reading. Young children can access 15 hours of free childcare/education from the term after their third birthday, a limited number of 2 year olds can access 2 year funded places (meeting the eligibility criteria) they will attend a primary school between the ages of 4 to 5 and 11 and transition to secondary school when they are 11. Once they are 16 they can stay on at the schools 6^th form (if they can offer this option) or attend a 6^th form college, alternatively take on an apprenticeship or a job opportunity.

If you’re aged 16 to 18-years-old (up to 25-years-old for young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and care experienced young people) Elevate careers service is available to help you and provide impartial advice to support you into employment, education or training.

Adult learning can help you to develop skills and assist you in to enrolling on to a full time course or to help you into employment. In Reading New Directions can offer a wide range of courses at a range of levels and are available at many local venues including Children's Centres, schools and community centres. There are also other voluntary organisation who can also offer advice and support. Your local Job Centre Plus can also offer advice and guidance on course and employment opportunities meeting your requirements.
