Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

Description

I am an Ofsted registered childminder since 2001. My last Ofsted inspection was good in 2022. I can accept children who are eligible for the 2 ,3 and 4 year funding. In my setting, I value each child as an individual and plan activities and experiences suitable for their individual needs and development as well as their personal interests and preferences.

Local Offer Updated - October 2023

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

I observe and assess the children regularly during every day routines and activities (All about me). I talk with parents frequently about any concerns they may have. I use the information to make judgement against The Early Years Outcomes. This allows me to share with families and concerns I may have about their childs development.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

As a childminder, I am responsible for all the planning for the children in my care. Once given permission by the family I will work with any necessary professionals to support a child. I will keep families informed and consult with them to make decisions about best methods to support their child through regular meetings ,ongoing assessments and monitoring and observations.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

As a childminder I do all my planning based on the individual needs of the children in my care. My goal is to set obtainable next steps, this is done through observations of current curriculum engaement, the childs development stages and the childs individual interests.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

All activities are based on the childs individual needs and adapted according to their development stage. I will work with families and other professional to best support the childs needs.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I am available and willing to work with local professionals, the local children`s centre and the early years team at the local authority.
I am prepared to attend training course and to work closely with other professional to best support any childs needs.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I monitor your child using the early year`s outcomes. This will be done through regular observations, termly assessments, Next steps, two years checks etc.
All information is available to the parents at any time. I will ask parents to review their childs learning journal, observations etc. and to provide feedback as a minimum of once a term.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

Safety and inclusion are my highest priority as a childminder. Therefore, I work within my ratio at all time, this ensure the safety of the children in my care and allows me to be available to support the individual needs of the children.again, because my ratios are low I can give the children lots of individual attention help and support the needs of the children so they can join in with any appropriate activities.I will also complete a risk assessment for any outgoings or trips. I will also work with parents and other proffesionals on how to best support any child`s participants and outings.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

My home is not wheel chair accessible.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Transition to a new setting is a team effort. I am happy ( when possible) to visit the new setting with your child, create a transition / good bye book and share any relevant information regarding the child`s needs with the new setting ( with the parent`s permission)

Making sure they are independent and can make their own choices : Can dress themselves ( Potty trained, can put their shoes on and off, can wear their coat)

If a child is willing to learn I help them to recognize their name etc.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I invite the families to complete a yearly questionnaire, this document allows families to comment on their overall reactions to my work with their child. I also ask parents to give feedback whenever they feel is needed.
I undergo statuary Ofsted inspections and compliance visits from the local authority. I also, formally self- evaluate the effectiveness of all aspects of my regularly and make changes and improvements frequently.
