Forestcare - Lifeline Alarm Service & Associated Telecare Equipment


Forestcare is a 24 hour telecare control centre. We install & monitor lifeline alarms. A lifeline alarm service works in the home & garden and allows you to call for help if you need it, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Simply have a lifeline alarm base unit installed & press you pendant to call for assistance (this service is provided to Reading Borough residents by Forestcare which is a part of Bracknell Forest Council).

You need a working phone line to have a lifeline alarm installed. However, if you don't have one of these, we can also supply a unit which works with a roaming sim card & does not require a working phone line.

  1. LIFELINE- Used to contact Forestcare, connected via the mains and telephone point, must not be on walls which would mean the cable would not be a trip hazard e.g. Mains point on opposite wall to phone point. £3.71 in Bracknell £3.97 outside of Bracknell
  2. GSM LIFELINE- Used to contact Forestcare, connected via a SIM card which means the service users does not require a phone line. £6.50 per week
  3. CARERS PAGER- Used to contact an individual onsite.(carer or family member)£3.71 in Bracknell £3.97 outside of Bracknell
  4. Pocketpal- Used for members of public and also as a LONEWORKER device- A mobile lifeline which provides coverage anywhere that has Mobile phone coverage, If the SOS button is pressed, the operator can then listen in on what’s happening and using a web portal will be able to locate service users to within 10 metres of there location and deploy appropriate help. Rented for £6.50pw or for lone workers it is £199 a year for BFBC or £275 all others
  5. CARE CALLS- Staff will call service users at pre-defined times 12or 3times a day to check that they have taken medication or that they are up and about.
  6. KEYSAFE-A strong mechanical metal box providing a secure method of externally storing the keys (up to6) to a property. It is installed into brick or concrete and keys are accessed by a combination code. The code is easy to set and can be changed when appropriate to maintain security. The C500 is the only Police approved key safe in the UK. Purchased for £60 on the day or £75 if we are re-attending
  1. RESPONDER SERVICE- Providing CQC approved professional emergency home care anytime of the day or night, for situations such as: rapid response, for an unplanned discharge from hospital, emergency support when another agency is unavailable, help when unforeseen circumstances occur and family members are not available, assistance with personal care, falls or no answers. £8.70 a week for 1 a month or £15 a week for 2 call outs


  1. WRIST WORN EPILEPSY SENSOR- Can be worn 23hours a day to communicate to Forestcare or an onsite individual to raise awareness of a possible Tonic Clonic Seizure. £1300 one off purchase or rented for £43 a week
  2. EPILEPSY SENSOR FOR BED- If service user is in bed and they are having a possible Tonic Clonic seizure this sensor will activate and make contact with control centre, it is cheaper than wrist worn but a lot less coverage as restricted to bed. £10 per week
  3. OCCUPANCY SENSOR- Provides an early warning by alerting that the user has left their bed/chair and not returned within a pre set time period, indicating a possible problem. The sensor can also be programmed to switch on lights, helping people find their way to and from bed easily £5 per week
  4. VIRTUAL PROPERTY EXIT SENSOR-(PES) combines a Fast PIR with a door usage sensor (universal sensor) to create a solution which can monitor a door or multiple doors if multiple PIRs/universal sensors are fitted. The system generates an alarm if a client leaves their home (during the monitoring period) and does not return within a set time. Cost will depend on amount of doors and rooms which require to be monitored. Price dependant on amount of PIR’s required Starting cost is £2 per week.
  5. DOOR SENSOR- will call the office or pager to inform whenever any door is opened. £1 per week
  6. BOGUS CALLER- Fixed near the door, this button will provide reassurance in the event of an unexpected caller via the Lifeline unit. Such incidents will also be automatically recorded and may be used in evidence. It is a silent call at the clients end so if you need to speak you will need to press F6 to talk to the client. £1 per week
  7. FLOOD SENSOR- the Flood Detector is a neat unobtrusive wireless sensor that can provide an early warning of potential flood situations. The sensor is placed under the sink or in the bathroom next to the toilet or under the bath. If the detector senses water, the unit will provide two types of alarm. The first is a local audible alarm and the second will activate the Lifeline home unit or grouped Telecare system, which will automatically raise a call at the monitoring centre. £2.30 per week
  8. TEMPERATURE EXTREME SENSOR- the Sensor monitors for excessively high and low temperatures and a rapid rate of rise in temperature. It is typically installed on the ceiling or wall in the kitchen to protect people and property against extremes of temperature. (Lifeline Vi’s are also capable of doing this) £1.80 per week
  9. CARBON MONOXIDE the Alarm provides an immediate alert when dangerous CO emissions have been detected due to a blocked flue or fault in a fuel burning appliance. Sealed battery with up to 7 year life avoids need for battery change. £2.70per week
  10. SMOKE SENSOR- increased reassurance by raising an alarm call at the monitoring centre while also activating a local audible alarm. £1.80 per week
  11. MEDICATION DISPENSERS - these can be used to automatically provide access to medication over a 28 day period, providing audible and visual alerts to the user each time medication should be taken. If the user fails to access the medication, an alert is raised to the monitoring centre or carer so that action can be taken to ensure that the medication programme is maintained. £4 per week
  12. PIR MOTION DETECTORS- PIRs are wireless movement detectors that can be used to detect both movement (intruder monitoring) and lack of movement (inactivity monitoring). £1 per week
  13. FALL SENSOR-(WRIST WORN) The Vibby is a sleek, fall detector which is worn on the wrist. It will automatically raise an alert, either at the monitoring centre or on a carer pager, if it senses the user has fallen, and also enables the wearer to easily call for help manually by pressing the button on the face of the Vibby. Confirmation that an alert has been raised will be given by an LED light and vibration. The user can also easily cancel an alarm by standing up or covering the Vibby completely with their hand during the 20 second period after a fall is detected. Please note: Some falls (i.e. soft falls, controlled descent against a wall or into a chair) may not be detected by the Vibby. Fall detection technologies that underpin these solutions do not analyse/interpret all situations. Users experiencing a fall which doesn’t result in the Vibby activating should press the help button to manually raise an alarm call. £2 per week
  14. FALL SENSOR- (PENDANT/BROACH/BELT WORN) the iVi intelligent pendant is a small, lightweight device and like other pendants, the iVi allows the wearer to press a help button to generate an alarm call when they need assistance from anywhere in their home, 24 hours a day. The iVi also provides an added layer of protection by automatically generating a call for assistance if a fall is detected and the wearer is unable to push the help button. The iVi has a range of wearing options, and is the only product of its kind to feature a not-worn alert*, which will notify the monitoring centre if the iVi has not registered movement for a period of time (3, 5 or 7 days),suggesting that the user has not worn it. £2 per week
  15. TRIGGERS- A) The Minuet Watch has been developed to help encourage Telecare users to wear their personal triggers throughout the day. By combining an alarm button into a high quality watch, users are more likely to wear it and as a result will be provided with additional protection as their ability to raise an alarm call is increased. B) An Easy Press attachment is a sleeve that fits over a pendant and enables the user to press the pendant with greater ease; these are a very good solution for people with very poor hand movement. C) The Radio Pull Cord can be strategically placed around the home, in order to provide a user with a convenient means of summoning help in an emergency. D) Ideal for people with limited movement, the jelly bean switch is sensitive enough to recognise the slightest touch in order to raise an automatic call to the monitoring centre. £2 per week
  16. ENURISIS- An enuresis sensor provides a discreet and efficient means to detect instances of enuresis the moment they occur, ensuring carers can respond quickly if they are needed, but otherwise do not disturb the user’s sleep. £5 per week
  17. Natural Gas Detector (plug-in) - Designed to simplify the installation of a gas detector by removing the need for installation by a qualified electrician. It is supplied complete with standard UK mains plug (with 2 metre cable) and a preconfigured universal sensor. The two devices are conveniently mounted on a white plastic board with keyhole slots for easy wall mounting. £3.50 per week.
