The national emergency situation caused by Covid-19 disproportionately affects minority communities and means that many people now require more support than normal. Community support partners Alliance for cohesion and racial equality (ACRE), Utulivu Women’s Group, Women with Vision (Reading), and Reading Community Learning Centre (RCLC) have come together to coordinate support for BAMER, marginalised or minority communities and especially those from the new and emerging groups in Reading, Berkshire. Individuals within these communities may be experiencing difficulties in coping with the current situation and would need assistance. We aim to help them get the support they need.

We want to create a safe and friendly environment to share experiences and ideas on issues pertaining to women in our society.
The activities of the group are targeted at women and girls aged 16 years and above from the Reading community, to meet socially, network, reflect, share ideas, discuss and plan events around culture and gender-related issues.
We meet every last Sunday of the month, and we organize awareness-raising talks on health and wellbeing to enable women in the community to understand the particular issues or topics, and the legislative and social provisions that underpin them.
We participate in other community activities, share information, empower and support each other, individually and collectively, so as to improve quality of life and facilitate integration and contribution into society in Reading.
Please contact us for the meeting venue and times.
