Out & About @ Optalis - Evening and weekend activities for adults with learning and/or physical disabilities
Out & About @ Optalis provides evening and weekend opportunities for adults with a learning disability. We now also offer 1:1 outreach support during week days, and specialise in finding appropriate activities for those adults who may not want to attend day service activities.
The service was set up, initially with a view to providing 1:1 support for access to the community and we do this for some of our client group, but has become the most popular part of the service is our group activities.
We organise day trips to places of interest, such as the seaside, theme parks, swimming, and much more! This is so popular because the clients get to hang out with their friends going to places they love – it’s just not as much fun doing it on a 1:1! We provide a door to door transport service and our clients have a really great time travelling together, experiencing different opportunities.
They have a good banter and this has led to some strong friendships being made. We have received some amazing feedback from parents, on how our service has changed the lives of their son/daughter and we can supply references, if you felt this was something you would like to see before using our service.
Another secret of our success is that we have some fantastic staff, who are dedicated, loyal, and completely committed to making sure the clients have a great time whilst also keeping them safe. We are able to offer you an introductory meeting with staff so that they are known to you before your son/daughter goes on an activity with them.
Out & About is a unique, special service, and it offers you something that other services do not do.
