Martial Arts in Reading - COME ALONG TO A FREE TASTER SESSION

At White Oak Aikido in Reading, we run classes in the martial art of Aikido on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. We offer a rolling eight-week Beginners' Course, so you can start when it's convenient for you. Originating in Japan, Aikido is a modern martial art based on traditional arts used in battle by samurai warriors. Highly relevant in today's high-stress, confrontational world, Aikido teaches evasion techniques and taking control of an attacker's power to take them down into a throw or immobilisation. Training in Aikido can improve your co-ordination, fitness, flexibility and reaction speed.

Aikido classes run on Thursdays at 19:30-21:30 and Sundays 16:30-18:30 at the YMCA, and on Tuesdays at 20:00-21:30 at the Caversham Heights Methodist Church Hall. After your free taster class, you can join our eight-week beginners' course for only £60 (waged) or £50 (unwaged), which includes insurance, access to the online handbook and the training video. But first, just come along and try a free, no-obligation, no hard-sell, taster session. (You must be over 18 to train with us.)

Our teaching team comprises male and female instructors. Our senior instructor holds the rank of 6th dan and is recognised by the British Aikido Board as a Level 3 Coach, whilst our assistant instructor is graded to 4th dan and she is a BAB Level 1 Coach - both also hold the Award in Education and Training. Qi Gong classes in Reading are also available.

Member comment: 'The instructor group are united, consistent and their dedication to teaching is inspiring, all the way to contagious.'
