Nutrition and Dietetics - Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
This service provides nutrition and dietetics advice, treatment and care.
The service is for adults and children
The team provides the following support services to patients at the Royal Berkshire Hospital as well as in the community:
- Individual consultations for both adults and children to assess, treat and educate you on therapeutic diets (see criteria forms to the right)
- Advice for patients living in nursing and residential homes who are unable to take in enough nutrition from food and are at risk of malnutrition (in special cases, we also see people in their own homes)
- Supporting people who are receiving artificial nutrition at home to minimise complications and keep them out of hospital
- Running ‘Weight off Your Mind’ weight management sessions in the community
- Supporting Public Health England to help deliver nutrition projects
- Providing nutrition education for patients, carers and other health professionals
- Advising and representing Berkshire Healthcare on nutritional issues such as standards for the patient food service
