New Survival Guide programme aims to help autistic adults move into employment

Autism Berkshire is working with the Reading-based charity Graft Thames Valley on a new service to help autistic adults who want to find a job.

The free Survival Guide Skills for Employment course draws on Graft’s expertise in helping to eradicate barriers to employment for disabled people in the region.

It aims to boost autistic adults’ confidence and develop the skills needed to look for work and find a job, including communication, digital skills for job searching and the workplace, making job applications, preparing for interviews, and the transition into work.

The first course, starting early next year, will use a blended learning approach, with online sessions and some face-to-face sessions at Graft’s office in Reading town centre. plus access to their Job Club service.

The aim is to help those who take part in a course to progress to paid full-time or part-time employment, volunteer roles or work experience with local businesses.
