Angela Tolley

I am a childminder in the Coley area of Reading. I live with my husband and 2 children (8 & 12 Years). As a family we love to spend time outside. We also love to get messy with craft and baking activities, and this will be a big part of my childminding childrens' day.

I have a large open plan living area with garden for more messy activities. I will use the local Coley park for outdoor fun and to run off steam.

I will provide home cooked meals and some of the vegetables will be provided by Riverford which will help provode a healthy balanced diet.

This setting has signed up to offer Tax Free Childcare.

Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

Description

Local Offer - Updated - November 2023

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Throughout my day to day activitities, I observe all my children regularly to help them continue to develop along side the early years outcomes. By doing their observations it will help me collect important information about the childrens' development, which i can then communicate with families, and if any concerns arise we can then together decide on the next step for additional help.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

Within my setting I regularly make observations, communicate with the family using different methods and have meetings to discuss their child's development. If I feel that a child needs additional help I will discuss with the family and after being given permission I will make contact with the necessary professionals outside the setting to make sure the best support is arranged.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Observations are carried out on each child and linked to the early years outcomes. Each child will have a next step and this will be set according to the abilities and their interests.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

All children are individual. I plan activities for all age ranges and abilities, but all activities can and will be adapted according to each child's development stage.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I am willing to work with local professionals, Katesgrove children's centre and Katesgrove school and the early years team Reading.

Also as part of my commitment to support the children in my care, I will attend local training sessions where needed.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

As a registered childminder I monitor the children using the early years outcomes. I will will carry out observations, parent meetings, two year checks and regularly look to set achievable next steps for the children in my care. All information is recorded in the children's daily learning journals that the families can view in the setting at any time.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

As a childminder I will always work within the ratios that are set out for us. because of these numbers I can assure the children's safety at all times, but still being able to support and work with them to develop and include everyone with the chosen activity.

Planning of outings are important to make sure that the everyone can be included in the trip and get the most out of it. Within the planning, risk assessments will be done and parents will also have input to help support their children.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

My home is not wheelchair accessible.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Any change for a child is difficult, so I would be happy to work together with the family and new settling to make the move as easy as possible. This may be visits to the new setting, photos of new setting and staff and goodbye book with memories of their time, and for school children, what they are looking forward to.

With the parents permission I can also pass on information regarding the child's learning and development.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I have regular meeting with the families to discuss the child's development and also welcome feedback throughout the year.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

You can contact me directly by email as below

 euble16@yahoo.co.uk

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I encourage a honest and open relationship with all my families and encourage them to talk to me if they have any concerns. I also provide a termly feedback sheet to help improve my services.
