Lynn Bolton
I have been childminding since 2007 and enjoy it as much now as I did when I first started, I had my last Ofsted Inspection in December 2019 and achieved a Good grade. I have lots of experience with children having 3 of my own aged Natasha born 1984, Karla 1987 and Zak 1998. I also have 3 granddaughters. I have worked in both, preschools and day nurseries as well as helping out and working at a primary school. I do daily pick up/drop off to Springfield School. I have a purpose built playroom with toilet which is ideal for when potty training takes place, I also have a large back garden with outdoor play equipment. Indoors the children are free to play with a variety of toys which are all age appropriate as well as arts & crafts and cookery. We like to read a story as a group before nap time, although books are readily available for the children to look at, we go to the local library once a week to read books and select some new ones to bring home. I also go to regular toddler, singing and music sessions, we tend to spend every morning at a group and afternoons spent within the house allowing the younger children to have a nap. We socialise with other local childminders getting together for playdates. I do daily record sheets for the children which then enables the parent to read exactly what their child has done and see where we have been. I have my level 3 diploma in childcare, as well as my Paediatric first aid and safeguarding. I like the children to learn through their play and all their learning runs in line with the EYFS framework allowing me to track their progress
Age range 0 to 11 years.

Updated April 2023
1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
Children are constantly being observed this helps me identify any concerns, these are then discussed with the parents so that we can work together and support can be given. I will encourage the parents to seek any professional help or advice that is necessary and attend any meeting with them if this is necessary.
2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
Daily diaries are completed every day and are given to the parents on pickup both myself and the parents sign these, as well as a short discussion, all parents are encouraged to telephone me in the evening if they have any concerns or questions no matter how small rather than leaving it to the following day. Scrap books with photographs in are given to the parents at regular intervals.
3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
I implement the EYFS through everyday activities some of these are child led whilst others are adult led, if the children seem particularly interested in one particular topic we extend it making it suitable for each age group, activities are adapted to cater for each child's ability meaning everyone can participate.
4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
I work in partnership with parents and with any other professionals involved with the child talking through with them the best strategies to use to help the child develop further. I provide documented evidence of the child's progress for parents to share at hospital appointments. Activities are adapted so that they can participate and feel part of the group, this helps with their confidence and is nice for both the child and their parents.
5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
Every child's situation and needs are unique to them therefore after discussion with other professionals I would do my best to support the child in the best way. I work closely with the parent and follow any routines they use at home. I also complete an Early Years Support And Achievement Plan (SAPP) to help work towards goals, I like to complete this with the parents imput to ensure we are working towards the same goals
6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
Daily diaries, scrap book containing photos and art work, are given to the parents to look at at regular intervals and a questionnaire is also given to the parents so that they can comment, parents are encouraged to ask as many questions as they like about their child's progress.
7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
All activities are adapted to include all children from the youngest to the eldest it does not matter what the finished product looks like as long as its the child's own work and they are proud of it, every ones work gets displayed on the board in the same way. Activities are adapted to suit individual needs of each child. We would only go on trips if this was possible for everyone to attend.
8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
I do have a separate playroom with toilet but doorways would not be wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair user.
9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
I would work with the new setting and if the parent required me to I would take the child on visits, I would also share their books with the new setting and write a small report explaining their likes/dislikes etc.
10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
I am an individual worker so it is only possible for me to asses each child's individual needs as the become apparent, I assess my overall effectiveness through reflective practice
11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
Lynn Bolton 07539320041 or lynnbolton1@yahoo.co.uk
12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
I send out a questionnaire on a regular basis where parents are asked general questions as well as making any further comments, I also have a complaints book and a section within my policies/procedures advising parents of the procedure to follow to make a complaint to Ofsted this includes all relevant telephone numbers.
