Amparo - Support Following Suicide
Amparo Suicide Postvention Service provides practical and emotional support for anyone affected by a suicide.
Our experience Liaison Workers will help you access any emotional support you need, whilst supporting you with practical matters such as:
- liaising with police and coroners
- helping with media enquiries
- preparing for, and attending inquest
- finding other, appropriate, local services (as required)
Amparo is completely free and confidential, and can provide short-term or longer-term support, depending on what you feel it is you need – we are guided by you.
Support can be provided one-to-one, to family groups, groups of work colleagues – whatever you prefer and is most appropriate to your situation.
You can refer at any stage in your bereavement or (with your permission) other agencies can make a referral on your behalf (your GP, the coroner, a police officer or a funeral director, for example). Our local Liaison Workers aim to make contact within 24 hours of referral.
Amparo is available to residents of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. To make a referral, or for more information about our service, please visit https://amparo.org.uk/our-locations/thames-valley/
