Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

Description

Pine Rivers Kindergarten is a private full day nursery catering for up to 43 children from the age  of 3 months to 5 years old. We are open all year round from 8am to 6pm except on public holidays. Our nursery is located in  Reading west on Western Elms street.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

We identify children requiring extra support through obervations which in turn provides information for their summary of progress and the next steps. Their progress as well as their language is tracted regually. The health visitors and our own 2 year old checks also provide us with vital information.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

Each child has a key person who runs their profile. Parents see the profile via Iconnect daily and a assessment is provided every three months. Any concerns we may have are voiced to the Parent. In conjunction with the parent, any other professionals involved and the Senco an individual education plan will be drawn up.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

We assess and plan activities that meet each individuals child's needs.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

We assess, plan, review. We implement an Individual Education plan  for each child which is tailored to their needs. This is an adapted strategic learning plan where the child will be monitored closely. We use Makaton , we offer sensory quiet time , we offer small group activities, we us visual timetable.

We closely with Parents , keyworkers and other professionals.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

The nursery trains its staff so that they can have the right tool to support children with additional need. There is SENCo in place

Nursery may purchase tailored resources and  equipment if required  and apply for additional funding for extra support.

With the permission of Parents nursery may seek support from other professionals

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

We monitor children's progress by assessing them first , then planning activities and observing them. At the end of each term will  make a  progress review and hold a meeting with the parents to discuss their child's development. For children with an IEP in place we review very 4 to 6 weeks. We involve the parents in their child's learning from the beginning and work together.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

We are an inclusive setting .We offer the same curriculum to all the children and make adaptions where needed to meet each child's need by assessing and planning .

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

The nursery at present is not accessible for wheelchair users.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

We plan activities that prepares the children for the coming transition to school  or to a different setting. We make an assessment and share it with the parents and school/setting. We will arrange visits for the child to their new school /setting.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

Each year we revise our policies and provisions and assess their effectiveness through parental feedback and LA training. Parents are involved in every step of their child's development journey

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

admin@pinerivers.co.uk

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

We have a policy in place for complaints and compliments.

The nursery runs an open door policy with key workers and Manager.
