There are three areas which are easily accessible from the town centre, two are located next to the River Thames on the Caversham side of the river.

Caversham Court Gardens is a picturesque area near Caversham Bridge with historic walled gardens, walks and grassed area where you can enjoy a picnic.   Friends of Caversham Court Gardens. Further along near Reading Bridge is Christchurch Meadows a large open area where you can sit play games, also incorporating a children's play area, pool. Christchurch Meadows

Behind Reading Museum is Forbury Gardens which hosts various events throughout the year, including those organised by Reading Museum, in the summer months there are also regular Bandstand Events.  Forbury Gardens
