Beginners' Course in Fencing

Classes will be held on Mondays, running from 19:30 to 21:00, and the course is a total of 8 weeks long: 1 taster session, 6 classes, and 1 competition (within the group) and grading. There are a total of 30-places on each course. If you decide not to continue with the course after the taster session, then we return (or destroy) your reservation cheque (or refund any online or PayPal payment) and it will have cost you nothing. We will add your name to our list for the course only upon receipt of your cheque or online payment and a completed Membership Form.
It is not crucial that 100% of the classes are attended and, as long as you attend the majority, you will have no problem with the Grade 1 test at the end. Please note that all classes are held on Monday evenings. The course fee includes equipment hire for the duration of the course, coaching, and your Grade 1 certificate and badge at the end.
Please contact us for the dates of the next course. Courses are run three times a year.
Once you've signed up for a beginners class, we'll invite you to attend a Taster Session where you can have a go at fencing, learn the basic safety information, foot- and blade- work skills.
If you decide to continue with the course, which we hope you will, you can continue with the remaining classes.
Each week's session is planned in advance and follows a fixed content - giving you a good understanding of the sport. At the end of the course all students take their Grade 1 Épée Assessment (the cost of which is included in the course fee).
