As a childminder I strive to provide a warm and caring home environment. Each child I welcome into my home is given care and understanding. I work with parents to give each child I look after the best opportunity to play, learn and to have fun. I work alongside an assistant and we work to be active in the community and spend time at toddler groups, local libraries, museums and parks. We encourage children to have fun, be active and to respect each other. Each child We care for is considered an individual and we work to meet each child's specific needs. I have two children of my own a 18 year old daughter and a 10 year old son.
I took up childminding after the birth of my son, and find it a rich and rewarding career. I have a wealth of experience caring for young children. Not only have I been a mum , I have been childminding for 8 years. I am also one of the eldest of seven brothers and sisters and I have also raised my own two children and have gain a wealth of experience from them. My assistant is a mother of two boys and has years of experience looking after them and children in her wider family.

Review August 2023
1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
Each child in my care is given a learning Journey that tracks their individual developmental progress with in my setting. I do this by interacting, observing your child and collaborating with parents; documenting their major learning goals in line with the early years outcomes. I also get to know each child as an individual; taking into account their background, family structure, how they learn and what is best for them and use this to make fair judgements about each child. I have an open door policy and work to encourage a good relationship with parents. All of these allow me access a child need including whether a child may have SEND and to offer the right level of support and care for each child.
2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
Each child in my setting has a review every six months to track their progress and to share this information with parents and any other relevant organisations. I also keep up-to-date learning journeys that have, specific information about a child, observation, reviews and trackers which are frequently shared with parents. I also have an open door policy so parents always feel welcome to discuss the progress their child in making. If a child is identified as having SEND I work with parent to put a provision plan in place to progress their development and these are review termly.
3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
Each child I care for is considered an individual and I work to meet each child's specific needs, based on their learning style, interest and individual goals. I have a broad range of resources that cater for all children interest and specific needs. I also practice giving every opportunity to participate in each activity and will adapt each activity for the specific needs of each child.
4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
My setting is very focused on leaning through play and individual children's interest. I understand that some children need more input than others and I would tailor all areas of learning to benefit the child. I also seek additional support from the wider community for areas I cannot meet with out additional training or help.
5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
I work have a small group of only three children a day so can really spend dedicated time with to each child to meet their individual needs.
6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
Each child in my care is given a learning Journey that tracks their individual developmental progress with in my setting. I do this by interacting and observing your child and collaborating with parents. Keep records on language progression, interest, tracking and monitoring tools.
7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
Each child I care for is considered an individual and I work to meet each child's specific needs, based on their learning style, interest and individual goals. I have a broad range of resources that cater for all children interest and specific needs. I also practice giving every opportunity to participate in each activity and will adapt each activity for the specific needs of each child.
8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
My setting is not accessible to wheelchair users.
9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
Each child is given a detailed transition report that is passed on to any new settings, I would make arrangement to talk with the appropriate staff and parents about how to support a child transition into a new setting or school. I talk to and do activities based around the transition well ahead of time with the child to make sure they understand and are ready to move onto the new setting.
10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
I encourage feed back from parents and children to assess the effectiveness of my SEN provision. I also track how well and engaged a child is getting on in my setting based on the activities I provide.
