Description

Hi

I am a Ofsted Registered Childminder based in west reading. I have been a childminder since 1993, I am a qualified  NNEB and part 1 DPQS 

before childminding I was officer in Charge of 43 place private Day Nursery and before that Nursery Nurse on the Maternity unit at Royal Berkshire Hospital.

I attend ongoing corses including Current First aid/ CPR and safeguarding trainning.

I have been graded outstanding on 3 of my  Ofsted inspections, and last inspection graded Good

Every child in my setting are valued as an individual and I plan activities and experiences to their indivdual needs and developmnent, as well as personal interests and preferences.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Through observing the children through out every day routines and activities 

Ongoing communication with Parents/ carers

 

EYFS Observations,  shared parent and sues Daily Diaries  record book.

Termly  overview reports.

I use the information I gather to make judgement against the Early years Outcomes.

 

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

As a childminder I am responsible for planning for the children in my care  

If required and with parental permission I will work with outside agencies / professionals to support any IEP's of a child.

I will keep Parents fully informed about progress and regulary consult with them about best methods to support their child through informal and formal discussions, ongoing assessments, and monitoring observations.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

I plan on the individual neeed and requirements of the children in my Care using EYFS tracker books for achivable next steps this is done through observations of current curriculum engagement, the childs development stage and most importantly the childs individual interests.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

Activities are based on the child.s individual needs and adapted to their development stage.

Working with parents and outside professionals to support the childs needs

By using many resources such as visual daily schedule, sensory based materials etc. 

 

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I am available and willing to work with outside agencies, childrens centres, and early years team.

By attending training courses and seeking support from other professionals  in the best interest for the requirements of child's needs.

One to one support. 

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I monitor your child using EYFS and early years outcomes through regular observations, tracker books and tools next steps two year checks etc.

Setting and parent shared learning  through daily EYFS obs daily diaries books regular verbal communication 

wow moments.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

As a childminder safety and inclusion for all children in my care is paramount I work within ratio's at all times allowing me to support each and every child within my care.

By giving individual attention and help as required.

By completing risk assessments for any outing or trips 

By working with parents and  other professionals on how to support childs needs and requirements to participate in activities and outings.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

wheelchairs would require a ramp into building then accessable 

Would work with parents and other agencies to accommodate children with other needs 

Utilize childrens centres and groups for additional support.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Transition to a new setting is a team effort 

by liasing with school/setting prior to transision 

visiting if possible with child,  and with  parents permission

new setting visiting my premises prior to admission

 

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

By regular reviews of my policies ,procedures training plans and self evalulation on all aspects of setting.

I have open ended communication with all parents/ carers and encourage them to share any questions and /or concerns with me  at all times 

I aim to resolve any concerns you might have as quickly as possible 

In the event of a formal complaint I ask that you follow my complaints policy.

All parents are required to acknowledge reciept of Policy when the complete contract to use my setting
