Reading Chess Club

Reading Chess Club is open every Thursday from 7.15pm-10.30pm.  

The subscription rates are: Adults £80.  Under 18s £50.  All members are required to register themselves with the English Chess Federation (ECF).

Reading Chess Club has five teams in the Berkshire League (one in Div 1, two in Div 2 and two in Div 3)and one team in the Surrey Border League Div 2.  Many of the club members also play for the Berkshire County team.

The Club runs ongoing internal standard play and quick play tournaments where game results are sent to the ECF for rating. The club runs several Rapid Play tournament evenings during the year and occasional simuls and themed coaching classes. 

The club welcomes junior players from the age of 11.  Younger players who have official ratings are also accepted as members, but is not geared up to offer coaching for complete beginners.

The parking in York Road is limited but parking in the evenings is currently permitted either side of the main road before turning in to York Road.  There is also currently free parking in the evening in the Thameside Promenade car park (RG1 8BD) which is in the road beside the Crown Plaza hotel at the foot of Caversham Bridge.
