Free workshops advise autistic adults and their
parents and carers through benefits applications
Free places can now be booked for two online Understanding Your Benefits Rights online workshops with Autism Berkshire's expert advisers.
The workshops will help autistic young people and adults (aged 16+) and their parents and carers in the Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire council areas to understand their entitlement to benefits, how to apply, what supporting evidence to include and the appeals process.
The workshops both run from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Mondays, using video links, as follows:
- June 21: For autistic young people and adults aged 16+, and their parents and carers, looking at applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
- July 19: For autistic young people and adults aged 16+, and their parents and carers, looking at applying for Universal Credit and Employment & Support Allowance (ESA).
They also look at related issues, including employment advice and support available to autistic adults.
People can find out more about these workshops and register for free places at https://www.autismberkshire.org.uk/benefits-service/ where they can also find more information about the charity’s Benefits Service.
Autism Berkshire’s benefits advisers can be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01189 594 594 (option 2) and leaving a voicemail message.
The workshops are supported by Reading Borough Council’s New Directions College community learning service.
