ABC to Read - Literacy Support

Logo

We are looking to recruit many more volunteers to help the children in Reading who are struggling to read! To find out more about volunteering visit  www.abctoread.org.uk/volunteers

ABC to read (Assisting Berkshire Children) is a local charity that recruits, trains and supports community volunteers to mentor children that struggle to read and lack confidence.  The volunteers provide one to one mentoring within primary schools throughout Reading and due to funding the charity have been able to extend their services to provide workshops to parents in order to give them the confidence to support their children at home. The charity are also able to provide training for school's own parent helpers.

The charity also provide workshops to students giving them leadership skills to support younger peers for whom reading is a challenge whilst helping raise literacy attainment and school cohesion.
