My setting is a childminder home based childcare setting. I have been registered since 2013 and work from 8am until 6pm.
The aim of my setting is to provide high quality childcare in a fun and interesting home from home environment.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
When starting with me you will be asked to fill in an All About Me form and we'll create some starting points using a tracker, from there I will continue to monitor progress with the same tracker and doing observation and highlight any concerns I have with you. We will then work together to move forward in seeking the next steps for support.
2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
I will continue to communicate with you via door step chats, phone calls, WhatsApp messages and meetings if needed. I send photos via WhatsApp, as it's a free service, as and when I can to keep you up to date with your child's day/progress.
3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
By using trackers I can plan around your child's interests. By allowing children free play and to make their own choices helps me see what the children like to do and will help me create next steps in something they enjoy.
4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
By working together with the parents and any other professionals involved we can create an individual plan tailored to your child's needs.
I am also happy to have a look into purchasing/loaning specific resources that may help with your child's development and do the appropriate training courses needed to gain a better understanding of your child's needs.
5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
When needed I will look at working with the Early Years Team and local authority along with any other professionals needed to get the support needed in place.
I can also try to find out information of places where parents/careers can gain support or advice from as well
6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
I will use a tracking form to keep an eye on your child's progress and create a folder for photos in which you will be able to access on discussion with me first. It's very important to have parents/careers input as well so having feedback from home helps me with planning too.
I will complete a 2year check as and when it is needed to ensure your child is meeting the correct areas of development and discuss with you when doing so.
7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
By planning trips in advance I can plan and prepare for outings. I can plan a risk assessment in advance and adjust accordingly if needed.
All children will be able to take part in activities planned whether it be independently or with support from myself, no one is left out. Activities will be adjusted accordingly.
8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
My setting is not ideal for wheelchair users or anyone with very limited mobility due to having steps down to my house and only an upstairs bathroom.
9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
When the time comes for a child to move setting We can discuss the best possible way with the parent/career then plan this into our activities.
I can plan walks so the child can see the setting often and talk about the setting in a positive way. I can also read books and find photos about/of the setting.
10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
Feedback from parents is very important and by doing a self evaluation to see what works well and what needs to be changed.

I am keen to listen to what you have to say so happy to chat with you in person. If you are in a rush send me an email or a message and we can arrange a time that is convenient for us both if needed.
Feedback forms are provided to be filled in and given back so I can keep a written track of my services.
I am happy to provide references if needed by previous parents. This may need a few days so I can contact them and ask for one.
I will have a complaints policy that will need to be followed and a complaints book that I ask you to write in if it is ever needed.
