I have been Childminding for 19 years. I have an 23year old son. I offer a good selection of both indoor and outdoor equipment, and also do arts and crafts and cooking with the children.I do a termly activity planner to do with the children which includes all the special days and seasonal activities within that term, and link these to cover all the areas of learning. We also go to toddler, singing and music groups and local parks. Age range 0 to 8 years.

I have been childminding for 14 years. I have an 18 year old son and a cat. I offer a good selection of both indoor and outdoor equipment, and also do arts and crafts and cooking with the children. We also go to toddler, singing and music groups and local parks. I can drop off/pick up from Moorlands Primary and local nurseries.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
I observe and assess the children regularly during every day routines and activities. I am always happy to talk to parents about any concerns they may have. I use the information to make judgement against The Early Years Outcomes. This allows me to share with parents any concerns I may have about their development.
2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
As a childminder, I am responsible for all the planning for the children in in my care. Once given permission by the family I will work with any necessary professionals to support that child. I will keep parents informed and consult with them to make a decisions about the best methods to support their child through regular meetings, ongoing assessments and observations.
3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
As a childminder I do my planning based on the needs of the children in my care. My goal is to set next steps, this is done through observations and the child's interests and development stage.
4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
All activities are based on the child's individual needs and adapted according to their development stage. I will work with the families and other professionals to best support the child needs.
5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
I am willing to work with the local professionals, the local children's centre and early years team.
I am prepared to attend training courses that will help me support the child's needs.
6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
I would monitor your child's progress with regular observations and keep journals to record activities and milestones. All information is available to parents at any time.
7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
Safety and inclusion of the children in my care is a priority as a childminder. My support and attention helps the children so they can join in with any appropriate activities. I also have risk assessments in place for any outings. I will also work with parents and other professionals on how to best support any child's participants in these activities.
8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
My home is not wheelchair accessible.
9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
Transition to a new setting is a team effort. I am happy if required to visit the new setting with your child and share any relevant information with your permission with the new setting.
10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
I give the parents a questionnaire at least once a year to complete, this allows parents to comment and give feedback on my business. I am also happy to chat about any concerns at any time.
I undergo statuary Ofsted inspections and compliance visits from the local authorities. I also self evaluate and take in the feedback from the questionnaires to do this.
