About the Children and Young People's Disability Team (CYPDT)
What we do
The CYPDT in Brighter Futures for Children (BFfC) is part of Children’s Social Care, and provides services to disabled children and young people aged 0 to 18 who are ordinarily resident in Reading and their parents and carers.
The Legal Framework
In BFfC services for children and young people with a disability are being
developed within the context of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act (1970),
Children Act 1989 (2004), the Equality Act 2010, the Children and Families Act (2014),
Every Child Matters and the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and
their Families and have regard to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

How do you make a request for a service for children under18?
Children's Single Point of Access can be contacted on 0118 937 3641.
If your child has been assessed by a CYPDT officer and they have told you that your child is not eligible, you may still be able to access some services directly. How do you make a request a service for young adults 19-25?
