Me and my family:
My names Nicole Mackie and I am an ofsted registered chilminder based in Southcote in Reading.
I live with my partner of 15 years Chris and our two children seven-year-old son Stanley and four-year old daughter Sienna.
I strive to provide a warm and friendly home from home environment, I work with parents to provide each child with the best opportunity to play and learn. I use tapestry to record your child’s journey with me that you can also have input in to in order for us to work together.
My background:
I have worked as an early year practitioner at Whitley park primary school for the last 7 years in the early years team both reception and nursery aged children
. My roles and responsibility's included
Encouraging learning and development, through play and teaching. Creating a secure environment, using imagination to help children to learn.
*Working with parents to support their children.
*Enabling children to build their literacy, language and numeracy skills.
*Monitoring progress and planning educational games.
*Putting together activities which will keep the children engaged throughout the day.
*Helping children get ready for the transition into a classroom environment.
*Helping children to become more independent when carrying out daily tasks.
*Creating the right balance between activities and down time.
Before being an EYP I worked in a reading day nursery as a team leader and running a room with 6 members of staff.
I feel the skills I have learnt over the years will help to support me with my childminding for the future.
Previous to this I have worked as a team leader in a day nursery and a nursery nurse at another reading day nursery.
My Qualifications
CACHE Level 3 in childcare and education
Paediatric first aid training 12 hours
Level 2 food hygiene training
Safeguarding
Read write inc (Phonic training)
Covid training
My Home
I pride myself on having a safe, clean and smoke free home. I have a large enclosed garden full of equipment and toys, which is always open to the children. I am within walking distance of parks, library, duck pond, toddler groups, children's centres and local shops, and a frequent visitor to all of them!
