New Beginnings Reading charity based in Reading.

"Our aims are the prevention and relief of poverty and financial hardship of persons in Reading and the Greater Berkshire area who are in need due to social or economic reasons, regardless of their religion or belief. This includes (but is not limited to) providing clothing, food, essential items, temporary accommodation, sign-posting to other support services and assistance with independent living. The charity promotes social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people in Reading from becoming socially excluded and relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society."

Hot Meal Service Tuesday 6pm-7pm, every Tuesday we provide a sit-in meal for anyone who wants to relax and enjoy a freshly cooked meal. Once a month we also hold a little event during our Tuesday service. Currently this includes Quizzes or Bingo, but if you have already joined us for these and want to see something new, do let us know.

Our Community Fridge Food Bank will be open Wednesday to Friday. We offer a selection of free fresh and non-perishable food. This is a drop in service with no referral needed to attend.

All Day Cafe newly opened is for all who want to sit and relax in a nice quiet atmosphere. It is a completely free service that anyone can attend. There are hot and cold drinks available all day, along with a selection of biscuits and cakes that you are more than welcome to help yourself to.

If you need a little insight into what else we offer or just a chat, feel free to come and see any of the volunteers, they are always more than happy to help.

The Weller Centre

The Weller Centre, located on the Amersham Road Estate, aims to help anyone in need throughout Caversham with food, clothes, furniture, internet access, printing, and signposting. 

We are able to supply families in the RG4 area with basic food packages, both fresh and dry foodstuffs.  Please ask groups or individuals to contact us on 0118 9475828 or email admin@wellercentre.org.uk. 

 

The Weller Centre are now offering free clothes on Tuesdays and Thursdays (weather permitting), alongside the community bakery starting. Please observe social distancing and handle clothes as little as possible. We will label and space items out as much as we can to make this possible. There will be no where to try clothes on and we request you do not try to outside the centre. You are welcome to take them home for this and return them the following week if not suitable.

 Please note our hours are 9am to 4pm Mondays to Fridays.

Sadaka

Sadaka is a non-profit charity based in Reading with an ethos of giving without judgement or bias. Working within Greater Reading, we aim to provide free lunches, groceries, books, clothes, toiletries and sign posting to other local services, to those who are struggling financially, while promoting good relations and understanding amongst our local community.

 

Sadaka is operated solely by volunteers. We provide free lunches every Saturday, at Fairview Community Centre, 90b Great Knollys Street, Reading. RG1 7HL, between 11:30-13:00. Along with a nutrious meal, we aim to help with finding needed items and offer a friendly place for those struggling finacially to come and meet friends.

If you are facing hardship or going through tough times, Sadaka can support you by providing a freshly cooked hot meal, long-life food, and a nice chat with a friendly team of volunteers. 

Also, our training program StepUpWithSadaka, can help you improve your language, IT, and other useful employable skills.

Sadaka is a non-profit a charity that provides free food every Saturdays to those that are struggling financially. We also provide free basic items and can register you for free food boxes from FAITH (Readifoods) - if you are in need of these items. Sometimes we also provide support to complete online queries - please ask for this service when you visit. There is a spacious, welcoming hall to sit and chat and bathroom facilities are available on the premises. Hot/cold drinks are freely availble with a hot meal (meat/vegetarian). We give without judgement or bias. Please pop in. Not during Covid-19, hot food service on Saturdays 12pm - 12.30pm outside Queen's Arms Great Knollys Street.
