A Remembrance service is being held at the Tilehurst Triangle War Memorial.
It’s organised by the Tilehurst branch of the Royal British Legion, and includes;
- wreath laying by services' associations and uniformed groups
- a Remembrance Poem written and read by a school child
- prayers, hymns and readings, with a sermon from the Rev'd Dr. Liz Ratcliffe.
The service begins at 10.40am, with the Last Post and a two minute silence at 11.00am.
This year there will be a special commemoration of the D-Day landings, of which 2019 is the 80th anniversary.
Many local shops, businesses, schools and residents have been taking part to “Turn Tilehurst Red for Remembrance”, decorating the village with poppies and bootprints, to remember the footprints of those who landed on the Normandy beaches.
Last year this service attracted a crowd of several thousand so please allow plenty of time for your journey and plan ahead to park away from the site and walk.
